After moving to Norwich from Scotland in 1995 and completing my higher and further education I had absolutely no idea what career I wanted to go into. I knew however that I wanted to be challenged – I needed to have something demanding and something that I could learn and develop in.

I fortunately ‘fell’ into recruitment in 2004 – and it certainly turned out to be everything I thought it would be and more!

I started working with Neil, who demonstrated great passion for the industry, in 2005 and soon became part of ‘Bootcamp Neil’. Legislation, Home Office Rules, HMRC obligations and recruitment best practice were a real eye opener – and I thoroughly enjoyed the steep learning curve. I realised that there was always going to be a new piece of legislation to become familiar with, employment law cases to research to ensure that we were doing the right thing by both clients and candidates and ever-changing recruitment trends which I would need to be aware of.

After working for Neil for some years, growing to respect and value his knowledge and understanding of the Industry, we became business partners in 2013, setting up The Recruiting Office to deliver a high, uncompromised standard of service.

For me, opening The Recruiting Office was about being able to be a professional Recruitment Consultant – understanding requirements, writing job descriptions and person specifications, completing in-depth face-to face interviews and being able to offer a full consultancy service to our clients – Recruiting with Integrity.

Learning about other businesses, market changes and various industry trends and developments has become one of the major satisfactions of my career, which I actually had never anticipated when entering in to the world of recruitment.

Recruitment gives me a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with a range of companies, to understand their individual business needs, priorities and recruitment strategies and allowing me to play a small part in their growth and future success by finding them the people they need to help their businesses thrive.
